Tamko Fence Installation: The Pasadena Owner’s Guide

We install Tamko fence systems throughout Pasadena, with most complete fence installations running between $3,500 and $9,000 depending on linear footage, terrain, and the specific Tamko product line you have. If you’ve got a Tamko fence that’s leaning, split, or pulling away from its posts, we carry the matching rails, pickets, and post components on our trucks and can typically schedule the work within a few days. Most Pasadena homeowners discover the problem the same way: after a good rain or a strong Santa Ana wind, a section that looked fine all summer suddenly shows its age, and what started as one loose board is now a sagging run of fence that won’t hold a gate straight.

Which Tamko Models This Applies To

Tamko’s fence product line spans vinyl, composite, and railing systems, and the compatibility details matter more than most homeowners expect. The most common Tamko fencing products we work with in Pasadena are the vinyl privacy fence panels and the composite railing systems, each of which uses a slightly different post sleeve diameter and bottom rail profile. Before we order anything, we check the stamp on the inside face of the fence panel or the bottom rail; Tamko embeds a product code that tells us whether we’re dealing with the standard 6-foot privacy panel, the 8-foot estate panel, or a custom railing profile. One compatibility gotcha: Tamko’s vinyl fence posts use a thicker wall than many generic hardware-store posts, so a “universal” post cap from a big box store will rattle loose or crack the post top within a season or two. We order genuine Tamko post caps and rail brackets for that reason, or a quality aftermarket equivalent that matches the wall thickness exactly. The same applies to gates; a Tamko gate frame is built to carry the weight of a specific panel, and substituting a lighter frame is the fastest way to end up with a gate that drags on the latch side within six months.

Signs Your Tamko Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Posts leaning at the base or pulling out of the concrete. This is almost always a footing depth issue, not a material failure. Pasadena’s clay-heavy soil expands when wet and shrinks when dry, and shallow footings slowly work their way loose through a cycle or two of winter rains and summer heat. The post is fine; the foundation under it is not.
  • Rails sagging between posts, especially on 8-foot spans. Tamko’s panels are engineered for specific post spacing. When a previous installer stretched the spacing to save a post or two, the bottom rail takes the weight and eventually bows. You’ll see the gap between pickets and ground open up unevenly.
  • Pickets cracking at the nail or screw line. Vinyl expands and contracts in direct sun, and Pasadena sees plenty of that on the south-facing fence lines. If the fasteners were overdriven during the original installation, the panel can’t move, and the stress cracks the picket right at the fastener.
  • Gate posts twisting so the latch no longer lines up. This is the classic sign that the gate post was installed without a proper footer or without a gate reinforcement insert. Tamko gate posts need internal reinforcement to hold a gate’s weight over years of daily use.
  • White chalky film on dark vinyl or composite panels. That’s oxidation from UV exposure, and it happens faster on the darker Tamko color lines in our climate. It doesn’t mean the fence is structurally failing, but it does mean the surface needs attention before the color fades unevenly.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A home office with a built-in desk and shelves

In Pasadena, a full Tamko fence installation lands between $3,500 and $9,000. The range is driven by three things: how many linear feet you’re replacing, whether the existing posts can be reused or need new footings, and how much of the old fence has to come out first. A straight 50-foot run on level ground with usable posts sits near the bottom of that range. A full replacement that includes digging and pouring new footers, hauling away the old fence, and resetting a gate lands closer to the top.

Every quote we give includes the line-item price for Tamko or Tamko-compatible materials, the labor, the demo and haul-away, and the concrete for new footings. That written price is what you pay at the end; Graham Stein has a phrase for this that he uses with every homeowner before work starts: “The price you see on paper is the price you pay at the end – no footnotes.” The installation itself carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If something isn’t right in the first year, we come back and make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

Replacing a single loose picket or clearing dirt away from a fence bottom is something a careful Pasadena homeowner can knock out on a Saturday, and we’ll happily tell you how to check your post spacing and panel codes before you buy anything. The line where DIY starts to go wrong is when the posts themselves are involved. Digging and setting fence posts properly in Pasadena’s clay soil means going 24 to 30 inches deep, using the right gravel base, and letting the concrete cure before hanging the panels. Get the depth wrong, or rush the cure, and you’ll be back out there in a year pulling a leaning post. Digging post holes also means calling 811 to mark utilities first, and a post hole digger through a buried line turns a weekend project into a very expensive afternoon. If your Tamko fence issue involves any post work, gate alignment, or digging, call us at (626) 714-2992. We’ll walk the fence line with you, measure what’s there, and give you a written price before anyone touches a shovel.
